Sweetheart Fruit Salad

Sweetheart Fruit Salad via JennySheaRawn.comSweetheart Fruit Salad. For your sweetheart (and/or family) on Valentine’s Day morning.

Though we are in the doldrums of winter here on the Cape, we continue to buy fresh fruit. Mainly because Lucca loves it – he LOVES berries of all kinds – but his favorite are raspberries. He puts the raspberries on his fingertips and eats them one by one. Unless he’s really hungry, in which case he grabs the raspberries by the handful and shoves them in his mouth. We do still buy a lot of frozen fruit, but there’s nothing like fresh fruit in the winter to brighten up the day.

This pretty bowl of ruby red fruit is simple and quick to make and pairs perfectly with an omelette and toast for Valentine’s Day morning. Or, you could go extra special and pair it with this Lobster, Egg and Avocado Breakfast Sandwich.

To make this Sweetheart Fruit Salad, you’ll combine raspberries, sliced strawberries, halved red grapes and halved cranberries. Then you’ll toss the fruit with lime juice and a touch of sugar.

Have you ever used cranberries in a fruit salad before? They add a really nice tartness that balances out the sweetness in the other fruit. If you’re serving this to kiddos, they may not like that tartness (Lucca doesn’t), but adults will likely love it.
