Apple Crumble Sundae.
Creamy whole milk vanilla Greek yogurt is poured over crunchy gingersnap cookies and topped with sauteed spiced apples, oats and lightly salted peanuts. The perfect fall dessert or snack.
The holidays are upon us and sweet, decadent desserts abound … pies, crumbles, cookies, cakes. They are tempting, aren’t they? Well, most of them anyway.
I tend to gravitate to apple crumbles (a la mode), and anything chocolate. But, I am very picky about my desserts because I am, and always have been, a dessert person. I’d gladly replace lunch with a vanilla soft serve ice cream cone from Carvel (which my mom and I used to do on occasion), though sadly (but for the better!), nowadays, that rarely happens.
The truth is, I eat dessert every night. My typical go-to dessert is either a handful of chocolate covered raisins or hot chocolate. During the holiday season, I quickly find myself overloaded and maxed out on the heavy, carb and sugar laden desserts halfway through the holiday season.
And that’s why I love having a few go-to better-for-you festive desserts that are just as tasty as the more decadent options, so even if you “indulge” in it everyday this holiday season, you can feel good about it. Like this Apple Crumble Sundae. It’s made with creamy vanilla whole milk Greek yogurt, sauteed apples/oats/apple pie spice, lightly salted peanuts and served over crunchy gingersnap cookies. You could even have it for breakfast, but skip the ginger snaps.
And, best part is, this Apple Crumble Sundae is ready in less than 10 minutes. Yes, please. Give me quick and easy.
