Grilled Radishes with Ricotta, Apricots and Walnuts.
Tender, smoky radishes topped with creamy and mild ricotta, sweet dried apricots and crunchy rich walnuts. A pretty and flavor-filled summer side dish that highlights spring radishes.
We’ve been patiently awaiting the first week of our CSA (community supported agriculture) produce and cheese share from Coonamessett Farm in East Falmouth, here on the Cape. Last week was our first pick up, and, as we expected we were given more produce (salad greens, field greens, radishes, garlic, rhubarb, strawberries) than we know what to do with (well, not really than we know what to do with…BUT we’re going to have a LOT of produce to use, freeze or give away, which is a great problem to have). The greens, garlic and strawberries we went through quickly and I’ll soon be making a crumble with the rhubarb from last week and strawberries from our next pickup this week. Radishes aren’t a favorite veggie in our house so we had to be a bit more creative with them.
We’ve roasted radishes a few times and love how sweet, mild and tender they get. And of course we’ve had them in many a salad raw. But we hadn’t yet grilled them, like we’ve done and loved for pretty much all other spring/summer veggies. So, we threw the radishes on the grill, topped them with ricotta, chopped apricots and walnuts and drizzled them with honey. Holy smokes. So good. And, don’t know about you, but we always have those ingredients in our fridge/pantry, minus the radishes, so this dish was really easy to pull together. That’s key for summer dishes, wouldn’t you agree?
These radishes that were previously spicy, crisp and peppery were now mild, tender, a tad sweet, a tad smoky and paired really nicely with cool and creamy ricotta, crunchy walnuts and sweet apricots.
This dish is perfect as an early summer side dish for your upcoming bbq’s and get togethers.

Here’s how to make these Grilled Radishes with Ricotta, Apricots and Walnuts:
- • 2 bunches radishes, halved and greens removed (use the greens separately in another dish)
- • ½ cup whole milk ricotta
- • ¼ cup dried apricots, chopped
- • ¼ cup walnuts, chopped
- • Extra virgin olive oil
- • Salt
- • Pepper
- • Honey (optional)
- Preheat grill to medium high heat.
- Toss radish halves with olive oil, salt and pepper.
- Place on grill for 3-4 minutes on each side until radishes are just tender.
- Remove from grill and place radish halves on a platter.
- Top radishes with small spoonfuls of ricotta.
- Sprinkle with chopped apricots and walnuts.
- Drizzle with honey, if desired, and top with freshly ground black pepper
